If a PhD student wishes to pursue an academic career, he or she will create a customized teaching experience plan with their advisory committee. At a minimum, students will complete:

  1. Two quarters of Instructional Development Forum (SPHSC 563)
  2. One Teaching Practicum (SPHSC 564) in which they co-teach a course with a faculty member

Many students also obtain experience as Teaching Assistants (TAs) but this experience is not required for the PhD degree.  For all teaching experiences, students will receive evaluations from faculty and students.
