Diane Kendall, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, ChairCongratulations on this momentous occasion!

This recognition of our graduates is presented through the efforts of the faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences (SPHSC). The vision of the Department is to advance the scientific understanding of human communication and its disorders, and improve the lives of people with communication and associated challenges across the life span. Our Department holds a long-standing history at the University of Washington with the first speech clinic established in 1936, the Department of Speech created in 1941, and the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences "born" in 1975. Today, UW SPHSC is recognized as one of the top-ranked departments in the nation and our students are a critical component of our success and the advancement of our discipline.

While we cannot gather together in Kane Hall as a community, we can gather as a virtual family to celebrate our 45th cohort of graduating undergraduate and graduate students! Today we honor their achievements and recognize this important milestone in life. It's been our pleasure to support their educational pursuits and we send our best wishes as they enter into a new chapter of life!
