All admitted, matriculated students at the University of Washington are eligible for financial aid services. We encourage students to investigate sources of financial aid and submit financial aid applications as early as possible, starting with the UW Student Financial Aid website. 

There are many avenues available to students for funding their education such as:

1. Scholarships - The Office of Student Financial Aid offers scholarship opportunities to entering undergraduate students. These funds are awarded to Washington resident students on the basis of financial need. This office also works with students who are currently enrolled at the University of Washington. If you are enrolled at the UW, go to http://expd.uw.edu/scholarships/ for more information on these resources.

2. Grants - Grants are federal, state and institutional funds awarded on the basis of need, which do not have to be repaid. Most grant programs are from limited annual allocations and award priority is determined by financial need. The University of Washington offers a full range of grant opportunities for students who qualify. Although grant assistance is not the largest source of funds available, it is important to complete the FAFSA application in case you could be eligible.

3. Work Study - students who are eligible for work study can obtain positions inside or outside their home department and in on-campus and off-campus jobs. Students who qualify should review the information on the UW Work Study Website. Available work-study positions can be found on the UW Work Study Position web site. The Work Study office is located at 520 Schmitz Hall (206-685-1985).

4. Student Loans - loans are financial obligations that must be repaid. Pay careful attention to the terms and conditions of any loan you accept to help pay for school. Do not borrow more than you need or can repay comfortably after leaving school. A comparison of various loans may be found on the Student Loans Program Chart.

5. Other Employment -  The Center for Career Services has a website where employment opportunities are available for review. Visit the Find Jobs section of their website.
